Frequently Asked SEO Questions

How can I tell if my site has SEO features?

We offer a free analysis to determine whether your site has been optimized. One of the biggest clues however is the page title in the browser header (not on the page, but at the top of the browser).

If your page shows up as "Page 1" or "Introduction" or "Welcome", then it has not been optimized. These are typical defaults for web development programs.

Another clue is if each page has the same title in the browser bar.

Can I do it myself?

If you have knowledge of html, or php (or whatever code your site is written with) then we can supply the wording for you to implement your own changes. The actual implementation is often not that costly, it is the research and the know-how that you are investing in.

Do you have a price sheet?

We do not have a price sheet, because there are too many variables in what we can do for each site, including your goals. It is best to set a budget and let us work on the most important changes until the budget is exhausted. We can suggest a budget after our initial free review.

Can I save money on a package deal?

We don't really have packages at this time for SEO, but we do offer search engine marketing SEM monthly maintenance that will save you some money.

Do you guarnantee results?

We see the same scams you see... companies promising to get you to number one, etc. Usually these involve an obscure interpretation of what they mean. For instance, when it comes down to it, a company might find something like your name that they can point to as going to number one.

This doesn't do you any good. You want higher ranking for terms people type in to find you.

We can't guarantee results because we don't have control over two important factors -- the search engine algorithm, the potential customer, nor your competitors. Every other company in the market is competing for position with you.

We rely on best practices to get you noticed by search engines. It's a matter of covering the basics first, analyzing, then making adjustments over time.

Can you work with any kind of site?

We work with most sites. Some pre-fab sites that have proprietary formatting don't allow us to get in to do all of the optimizing that we would like, but we can still work with content and other important factors to help your ranking.

How do you charge for services?

We analyze what it will take to do basic SEO, advise you on an initial spending range, based on what needs to be done and our current hourly rate. We discuss this with you and agree to a budget. We require half of initial budget to be paid at project start and invoice you for the remainder when we are done. Payment is due within 20 days of invoicing, unless other arrangements have been made.

What is the difference between SEO, SES, and SEM?

All are part of working with search engines (SE).

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, which is working with your site to get noticed by the engines.

SEM stands for Search Engine Marketing, which is a broad term for directly working with the engines to promote your site. It includes such things as pay per click advertising, display advertising on a site, or link exchange programs.

SES is a general term for Search Engine Services and covers both SEO and SEM.

Why should I use your services?

Smaller companies care more about you and your business. Jon Camrud is personally involved in researching your keyphrases after consulting with you and learning about your business. A large company will use industry standard keywords that a million other companies are competing with you on.

We utilize the same techniques as large companies, and on occassion will outsource using tools that larger companies have developed (such as google tools) as needed.
